I am deeply saddened by the death of Rusty Staub. Le Grand Orange was the all time fan favourite in Montreal, and mine too. He had two Charitable Foundations and was known as a selfless humanitarian.

The Rusty Staub story marked the beginning of the Expos as Nos Amours. He was an instant hero, with his flaming red hair and his “Casey at the bat” like stance. His home runs over the right field fence in Jarry Park were awesome and often!!!

I remember Rusty as both a great baseball player and a fine human being. I was with him recently but was unaware of his declining health.

May he rest in the peace he gave others.
