ExposNation Organizes Morning ‘Pitch and Catch Rally’ With Former Players Near Jarry Park
Grassroots event aims to show support for baseball and the Expos in Montreal
Montreal, Quebec, July 31, 2013 – ExposNation, a grassroots organization run by a committee of volunteers, today announced a Montreal event for August 17, aimed at promoting baseball in the city and the return of the Montreal Expos. Titled the ‘Pitch and Catch Rally’, supporters of the Expos and baseball in Montreal are being encouraged to visit the fields at Jarry Park to throw around the ball.
In association with Les Grandes Etoiles du Hockey, former Montreal Expos players Steve Rogers, Claude Raymond Denis Boucher and Derek Aucoin, and other celebrities, will be on hand to participate in the pitch and catch event. Fans that bring their baseball gloves will have a chance to briefly throw with the former Expos and other personalities for the cause of returning professional baseball to Montreal. Interested baseball enthusiasts are invited at 8:30 a.m. to visit the corner of St. Laurent Blvd and Gary Carter Street.
“This event will showcase Montreal’s vibrant and ever-growing heartbeat and desire to enjoy a sport that is and always will be engrained in our community,” said Matthew Ross, ExposNation Founder and Chairman.
Concurrently, ExposNation has also announced the launch of a season ticket drive designed to show that Montreal can support a Major League Baseball franchise. Fans with the desire to put their name down for season tickets to a future Montreal MLB team can visit this page for more information.
Initially starting out as a Facebook fan page, ExposNation is a growing grassroots collective of baseball fans that cherish the history of the Montreal Expos and want the team to return to the region. Recognized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, the ExposNation executive committee is comprised of volunteers that work only to create awareness for its cause. www.exposnation.com
